Sea Shepherd Conservation Society partnership
This summer PWS selected the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ("Sea Shepherd"), an international non-profit marine wildlife conservation organization to be the recipient of PWS’s largest annual donation in its 26+ year corporate history. These unrestricted donations now make PWS Sea Shepherd’s largest monthly corporate supporter. With PWS’s firm commitment to preserving the environment, Sea Shepherd was a natural choice for this award.
Sea Shepherd was founded by Captain Paul Watson in 1981. Captain Watson, a former member of Green Peace, has spent much of his life protecting wildlife worldwide. For Sea Shepherd their clients are whales, dolphins, seals, sharks and other marine life which are being threatened. They are most recognized for their efforts to prevent the killing of whales in Antarctica as their campaigns are now captured on the popular television show Whale Wars.
PWS’s pledge to Sea Shepherd goes beyond providing financial support. With Sea Shepherd’s year round world wide campaigns which are supported by a fleet of vessels, PWS is now sharing it’s expertise in international logistics to assist with planning, coordinating and transporting necessary equipment and materials. In addition, PWS is undertaking the founding of Sea Shepherd’s Baltimore/D.C. Chapter whereby PWS’s staff, family and friends will seek to raise public awareness on the serious environmental issues currently facing our planet.
