PWS Sponsors #1 USA Solar Car Team
PWS demonstrates it’s endless devotion and commitment to the environment with the recent silver sponsorship of the University of Michigan’s Solar Car Team, UMSolar, as they race the "Quantum" around the Australian outback in their bid to win the 1,800 mile World Solar Challenge.
The UMSolar team approached PWS back in May by way of referral from one of our loyal customers who will be providing the shelters for the team at the competition set to take place October 16-23, 2011. The Team is the largest student project team on the University of Michigan’s campus, and after twenty-two years, has built ten custom solar-electric vehicles and won six National Championships. UMSolar’s dedication to implementing cutting-edge technology and creative innovations to produce a world-class solar car connects strongly with our own mission to facilitate the creation of new, sustainable business through enhanced team cooperation and employee awareness.
In addition to the sponsorship, PWS was recently responsible for shipping the solar car to the UMSolar team’s race headquarters in Adelaide, Australia. Through our strong vendor relationships and expertise in the industry, PWS was able to negotiate discounted rates and provide an ultimate customer experience for the UMSolar team. As a result of our proven success, PWS provided the air freight transportation as well as handled the customs clearance for the Quantum and its custom twenty-foot-long shipping container, "The Crate", on a 747 freighter just last week. As of Monday, the custom crated solar car successfully touched down in Australia and was delivered without a hitch.
In the coming weeks the Quantum will go through some last minute finishing touches as the UMSolar team arrives and prepares for the race.
